Clugston International has been exporting used trucks, trailers, cars, and heavy machinery from the UK for more than twenty years. We handle the full process for you, from sourcing the right vehicle through to delivery at your nearest overseas port, and all the paperwork in between.
Our shipping network covers ports across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, and South America, with regular sailings to all key destinations.
Ports we ship to regularly include:
We ship regularly to Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. Each country sets its own import requirements, and we handle the documentation accordingly.
Kenya requires KEBS (Kenya Bureau of Standards) certification for all imported vehicles. In Nigeria, Lagos handles large volumes despite well-documented port congestion. Tanzanian operators tend to prioritise fuel efficiency given the long inland distances from Dar es Salaam. Mining companies in Zambia need heavy-duty vehicles built for mine-site work. South African buyers sometimes purchase for onward re-export to neighbouring countries.
Twenty years with African customers means we know what each country’s paperwork actually looks like in practice, and where the delays tend to happen for less experienced exporters.
Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana are our main Caribbean destinations. Jamaican buyers often specify particular brands and models based on local parts availability. Guyana’s oil sector has driven sharp growth in commercial vehicle demand, including for the difficult Georgetown-to-Brazil route. Trinidad has an established used truck market, and buyers there generally know current values and specifications in detail.
Our regular shipping ports in the region are Kingston, Port of Spain, and Georgetown.
Malta and Cyprus both use right-hand drive vehicles, matching UK specifications and removing a common obstacle for buyers who would otherwise source from elsewhere in Europe. Malta’s narrow streets in historic areas like Valletta limit vehicle size, so most operators there prefer compact rigid trucks under 7.5 tonnes. Cyprus covers more varied terrain, from coastal towns to mountain routes, and operators look for vehicles with good cooling systems and reliable brakes.
Both countries follow EU regulations for vehicle imports, so proper documentation and compliance certificates are required. We ship to Valletta and Limassol on established schedules.
Our customers range from individual buyers to fleet operators. Pricing, stock access, and export support are the same in either case; only the volume and paperwork change.
Our used truck stock covers heavy-duty construction vehicles, rigid trucks, tractor units, and smaller commercial vehicles. Brands in stock typically include DAF, MAN, Volvo, Scania, Renault, Mercedes-Benz, and ERF. Every vehicle is inspected before being offered for export.
Direct purchase from the UK gives buyers access to favourable exchange rates and avoids the markup local dealers usually add. Our quoted price covers the vehicle, shipping, and export paperwork, so there are no surprise costs at the destination port.
Used vehicle export depends on international trade rules and shipping logistics that vary by country. We handle the paperwork, customs clearance, and shipping arrangements directly. For most destinations we’ve shipped the same routes for years, so problems tend to be spotted and dealt with before they cause delay.
Every truck goes through a mechanical inspection before export preparation. Our mechanics check engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, and supporting systems. Faults are recorded, and where a vehicle is repaired before shipping, the work is documented.
Road conditions across many African markets are harder on vehicles than UK or European operators are used to. We pick trucks with strong engines and hard-wearing components for those routes, and our inspection process focuses on the systems that take the most punishment in service.
The same staff handle enquiries through to delivery, so customers don’t get passed between departments. Regular customers’ fleets and preferences stay on file with the team they already know.
Many buyers need modifications before shipping: refrigeration units, crane installations, tipper conversions, fuel tank work. We arrange these through our network of UK-based fitters, who can complete the work before the vehicle is loaded.
We hold a substantial Renault Premium spare parts inventory and can source parts for other brands through our supplier network. Where ongoing maintenance support is needed, our partners can advise on service intervals and parts schedules.
Our sales team handles enquiries about vehicles, shipping options, and pricing. If the truck or trailer you need isn’t in our current stock, our UK supplier network gives us the reach to source the specific model.
Andy has spent decades in the commercial vehicle industry. His background includes years inside DAF network dealerships in the UK, covering sales, service, and parts, and a period as MAN Brand Director in Saudi Arabia. He understands both brands at a vehicle level and at a dealer level, which matters when specifications and price are being agreed.
His sales experience runs from junior roles through to senior management, and he handles first-time buyers and large fleet operators with the same attention. Andy’s focus is straightforward: the right vehicle at a price that makes sense.
Paul knows the used truck and trailer market in detail. He’s handled enough international export transactions to spot where things go wrong, and to head off problems before they reach the buyer. From paperwork and compliance through to the logistics of moving vehicles to overseas customers, he’s seen most of it first-hand.
His earlier years in fleet management and vehicle maintenance give him a practical view of what businesses actually need from a vehicle in daily service, beyond what the specification sheet says. Whether you need a single tractor unit or a full fleet of rigid fuel tankers, Paul knows the right questions to ask before you commit.
